I’ve worked with some of our D*S team for close to a decade and they most definitely feel like real family to me. One of the people I feel is the closest I’ve ever felt to a sibling relationship if our incredible food editor, . Kristina is one of the most fascinating, talented, driven and hard-working people I know. She’s also one of the most intelligent. When she’s not working her day job as a development advise in the area of emergency food assistance, Kristina is working on her , traveling and immersing her self in the food world to provide us with inspiring recipes, cookbook ideas and chef profiles. Originally from Nashville, Kristina studied at Stanford University and was a part of the Foreign Service before moving to Rome where she has been for the past 14 years. I feel so lucky to have her as a friend and co-worker. While we occasionally disagree and have intense discussions (like siblings), there are very few people whose opinion and work ethic I trust more.
I only get to see Kristina once or twice a year at the most so when she came by our office yesterday I plied her with promises of pizza and baked goods to get her on the show. Thankfully she agreed to join me and I can say, without a doubt, that this is one of my favorite interviews I’ve ever done. I knew Kristina was interesting and full of knowledge, but I don’t think I knew just quite how incredible she truly was until I got to hear her speak from her heart about her commitment to the issue of world hunger and how that affects her relationship with food and the way she dedicates herself to making sure In The Kitchen With showcases sustainable and ethical food/recipes as much as possible. We are so lucky to have her on our team.
I hope you’ll enjoy her interview (and will join me in wanting an invite to her ideal dinner party) and getting to know Kristina better. Thanks so much to Kristina for joining me on the radio today- and on the site for the past seven years. xo, grace
